LT Spotlight- Marissa Hayward

Business, Lash News

This week’s spotlight goes to Marissa Hayward of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Marissa has been lashing for two years, and also offers microblading services. She loves that lashing allows her to be creative while giving her clients new found confidence. Read about why we chose her as LT Artist of the week.

How long have you been lashing? Where did you receive your certification/training?:

2 years. Since February 2018. I received training from a local makeup artist who talked me into doing it as a hobby.

What made you decide to be a lash artist?:

I’m a devoted and loving wife and stay at home boy mom to my 4 boys. My family has always been my priority in life, and I’m extremely proud of them. My 8 year son was born with optic nerve hypoplasia and my life became completely 100% involved which left zero room for work or school. Once I had accustomed myself to a good routine, my husband and I thought it would be a good chance for me to attempt some of the things I had interests in.

February 2018, I trained in eyelash extensions. April 2018, I trained to micro-blade brows, to create a business and work out of my home studio. It was supposed to be a hobby, and I thought maybe once a week would work. It gradually blew up and 3 months later I was asked to work in a medical office. I took clients there full time and it got so busy I had to take clients again from my home studio as well as the medical office. I finally decided to work strictly from my home studio, and am still busier than I can handle.

Lashes do seem to take up the majority of my work schedule. I wouldn’t change it though because although I may be “working” it’s not work for me.  I get to be creative, still be involved with my boys, and see my husband throughout the day. I have met some amazing people and am crazy thankful for the friendships I have created along the way.

What is your favorite thing about being a Lash Artist?:

I love that I’m able to be creative, while at the same time helping women gain the confidence and feel wonderful about themselves. They always leave so happy. That makes me happy when I know I’ve helped create that in their lives.

Have you taken any continuing education or advanced classes in lash artistry? If so, when and what?:

Not yet. I haven’t had the opportunity to take any additional training. I want to look into more training courses in the spring. I love learning knew techniques so I’m excited to see what I can learn from others.

How long have you been using Lash Tavern products?:

2 years

What is your favorite Lash Tavern product and why?:

I love the Expert Series Adhesive. I’ve tried plenty of adhesives over the years and I always run back to Lash Tavern.

What are your hobbies outside of lashing?:

I love trying new things when practicing different lash looks, along with micro-blading brows & the use of nano strokes. I also LOVE spending all of my extra time with my family and creating those memories. I know time flies quicker than it should, and they mean the world to me, so that’s important to me.

What is the hardest lesson you have had to learn while lashing?:

The hardest lesson is knowing how to stand your ground. You don’t want “friends” or clients to run all over you or take advantage of you. Be yourself and don’t try to make someone feel comfortable if it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Do you have any advice for new lash artists?:

If you love it, don’t quit. You may not pick up a technique over night, but stay consistent and practice. Be better than you were yesterday. Don’t compare yourself to other artists. We don’t all do the same thing.

Is there anything you’d like to tell us about yourself that we haven’t asked about?:

Just want to thank you for reaching out to and choosing me. With the many talented artists out there, I really appreciate it. I also, appreciate your amazing products and the delivery speed! So thank you so much.

Thank you Marissa for being our LT Artist of the Week!

Thank you Nikki, for being our spotlight of the week. We are proud of the work and artistry you provide the lash clients of our sunny home state.
