LT Spotlight- Nikki Greaves

Business, Lash News

Our first LT Artist Spotlight of the year goes to Nikki Greaves of Tempe, Arizona. Nikki has been lashing for 6+ years and got her start by training with Lash and Sugar Co. She has been interested in the beauty industry since she was a little girl and started using Lash Tavern products 4 years ago. Read on to learn more about Nikki’s business and why we chose her as this week’s spotlight.

How long have you been lashing? Where did you receive your certification/training?

I have been lashing for almost 6 years. I am a licensed aesthetician and took a lash course at Lash and Sugar Co.

What made you decide to be a lash artist?

I was interested in the beauty industry from a very young age. I always played in my mom’s make-up and nail polishes. My mother was a nail artist for 25 years, so I grew up in nail salons. After working in a few different career categories, I decided to go to Esthetician School and was trained in eyelash extensions. I immediately fell in love with lashing! After working at a big corporate lash franchise (and hated it) for awhile, I decided to take the big leap and open my own business. I love being my own boss and having the flexibility to balance work and home life.

What is your favorite thing about being a Lash Artist?

I am a sucker for instant gratification. Eyelash extensions are an instant (well in an hour and a half) transformation. I get to almost magically transform my clients confidence, by enhancing their own beauty with a sassy set of lashes!

Have you taken any continuing education or advanced classes in lash artistry? If so, when and what?

After being trained by Lash and Sugar Co., I went through another proprietary lash training with the lash franchise. I have curated a style and technique by blending these two trainings and my own creativity together. I also follow a ton of really great local lash artists for great inspiration, community, networking, and education content.

How long have you been using Lash Tavern products?

I start using Lash Tavern products about 4 years ago.

What is your favorite Lash Tavern product and why?

I love love love the ellipse lashes and so do my clients. They are so much softer and dense in color than other brands. My retention is superb due to the bi-concaved shape.

What are your hobbies outside of lashing?

I have two daughters, 12 and 5, that keep me pretty busy. When I do get some time to myself I like to indulge in a little self care.

What is the hardest lesson you have had to learn while lashing?

When I first started lashing I had terrible wrist, hand, neck, and back pain. I almost gave up. I started really trying to take care of my body since it was a tool needed to do my job. Now I make sure to get regular chiropractic adjustments and massages. I also get acupuncture and reflexology treatments when I over do it, and lash too many clients in a work day. I try to stretch and sleep in wrist braces to protect from injury.

Do you have any advice for new lash artists?

My advice would be to take your time, speed will come with time. Also, don’t compare yourself and work to other artists, it’s not healthy. Instead, focus on more lash education and give yourself some grace while you are learning.

Is there anything you’d like to tell us about yourself that we haven’t asked about?

I really appreciate this spotlight opportunity. Thank you.

Thank you Nikki, for being our spotlight of the week. We are proud of the work and artistry you provide the lash clients of our sunny home state.
